Introduction to Abvida D Tablets

Abvida D Tablet is a combination medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. This medicine is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps in proper utilization of insulin, thereby lowering the blood sugar level.

Abvida D Tablet can be taken with or without food at any time of day but you should try to take it at the same time every day. The dose will be decided by your doctor. Don’t stop taking it without asking your doctor. If you do, your blood sugar levels may increase and put you at risk of serious complications like kidney damage and blindness.

This medicine is only part of a treatment program that should include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems or a urinary tract infection or if you are on water pills (diuretics).

How Does Abvida D Tablets Works?

Abvida D Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medications. Dapagliflozin increases urinary glucose excretion and reduces blood glucose levels. Vildagliptin reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver, by raising insulin levels and decreasing the levels of the glucagon (the hormone that increases blood glucose level).

Warnings & Precautions

1. Not for Type 1 Diabetes or DKA

• Not suitable for Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

2. Monitor Kidney Function Regularly

• Both dapagliflozin and metformin require good kidney function. Risk of lactic acidosis and dehydration if kidneys are impaired.

3. Caution in Elderly Patients

• Higher risk of dehydration, dizziness, kidney issues.

4. Maintain Proper Hydration

• Dapagliflozin increases urination; drink enough fluids.

5. Stop Before Major Surgery or X-ray with Contrast

• Metformin should be temporarily stopped to avoid lactic acidosis.
